As your constituent, I am seeking your action in combatting and redressing my outrageous hyper-inflated bills from Southern Water.
My current annual Southern Water bill has increased by more than 55% on last year’s and demonstrates an across-the-board increase of for all customers of 55-65% so far. Plus, the Competition and Markets Authority has approved a further 3% increase.
Ofwat’s PR24 final approved bills formula for Southern Water was for an increase of 47-52% to be spread out over 5 years and not applied in one go.
I and the majority of Southern Waters customers simply cannot afford this year’s colossal increase, let alone any further increases. Also, as Southern Water holds a monopoly for wastewater services, we cannot choose an alternative company.
As the recent damning report by Bad Southern Water indicates (<link>), like other customers I fear that Southern Water’s ‘price gouging’ will inflict annual bills of £1,500 or more by 2029-30.
I am therefore asking you as my MP to take urgent action to stop this outrageous conduct.
Thank you in anticipation of your action and support.
Dear MP Name - don’t forget to use their title if they have one.
Southern Water provides waste water services to me and my family. The difference in the Bill between this year and last year is huge and well over inflation and I understand that next year’s Bill is going to be the same.
This is just not fair on the working man and all this against the general Cost of Living crisis the UK is going through at the moment.
I read on a website https://bad.southernwater.org that you are the best person to contact about this and I hope you will be able to put a break on these excessive increases.
I look forward to your reply and hopefully plans to prevent what many see as a crisis in the making. Working people are being forced to make a choice between paying for excessive bonuses and going without.
Yours, (You can use an alias if you wish)
