In 2025-6 alone, Southern Water will have gouged hundreds of £millions extra from its 4.8million customer victims.
Some people are likening Southern’s senior executives to a flock of greedy seagulls. They seem to zoom down from a great height, screaming, squawking and crapping over everyone, snatching your lunch out of your hand, filching your wages out of your pocket, and then flying off to enjoy their ill-gotten spoils. A colourful exaggeration perhaps, but whether ‘invisible elephants’ or ‘greedy seagulls’, that’s what it feels like to many customers.
